How it works

We’ve designed our auto transport services to be as easy and stress-free as possible

We pick up your vehicle

step 1

Get a free, instant quote and book your order

The process gets underway when you get in touch for a car shipping quote. Our free instant vehicle transport cost calculator is the easiest way to do this. Alternatively, speak directly with our car shipping experts by phone or live chat for a more personalized quote.

If you choose our online quote calculator, you’ll need to provide some basic details, including your preferred pick-up and delivery city or ZIP code, the year, make, and model of your vehicle, its condition, the number of cars you want to ship, and the type of transport you wish to book. You’ll also need to let us know the First Available Pick-up Date, which is the date when your car will be ready for transport.

We also need your email address so we can send a copy of your quote and a phone number to verify your authenticity as a real person.

When you get your door-to-door auto transport quote, it will be all-inclusive. There are no hidden charges, and that’s guaranteed. At this point, you’re not obligated to complete the process, and unlike many other car shipping companies, your quote is valid for 14 days.

If you decide to book after 14 days, you don’t need to input your details again. Our quote system records all your information securely so we can quickly recalculate the cost if you give us a call and tell us the number of your quote.

We offer a price match promise if you’re unhappy with the price. Contact us immediately; we’d appreciate the opportunity to match a direct competitor auto transport company’s price.

Once you’re ready to make your booking, click the link in your quote email. It takes you directly to a page where you can complete your booking. Alternatively, call (708) 300-0063 or use our live chat service.

At this point in the vehicle shipping process, we require no upfront payments. Cancellation is also free before we schedule your shipment. If your cancellation occurs after we’ve assigned a carrier, we’ll retain a fee of up to $199 but refund the remaining amount.

All the carriers we partner with are thoroughly vetted, and we’ll find the best one for your needs. Once we’ve assigned a carrier, we’ll contact you to explain the next part of the vehicle transport process and provide the carrier’s information.

Once we confirm all your auto transportation details, you decide how you want to pay. You have three options: Cash on Delivery (COD), credit/debit card, or Zelle payment in full at the time of booking.

We pick up your vehicle

step 2

We pick up your vehicle

Your carrier contacts you the day before your scheduled pick-up time and again a few hours before their arrival. This is a courtesy call and an opportunity to confirm that someone is available to release the car. Don’t worry if you’ll be unavailable because you can nominate someone to act on your behalf. Our only requirement is that they’re 18 years or older.

When your car transporters call, they must also confirm the pick-up location and check that it’s accessible for large trucks and trailers. You need to discuss an alternative location nearby if there are parking or access restrictions, low-hanging trees, or overhead power lines. Suitable locations include a parking lot, your workplace, or on a wider street.

When the auto transporter arrives, you and the driver must closely inspect your vehicle. If either of you spots any existing damage, such as dents, dings, scratches, or chips, they must be noted on the Bill of Lading (BOL). This document could be in paper form, but it’s not unusual for drivers to use an app.

Once all the vehicle transportation documentation is complete, you hand over your keys and wish the driver and your vehicle a safe journey. Don’t feel upset because it won’t be long before you and your vehicle are reunited.

For your peace of mind, our car shipping experts are on hand to provide regular updates by phone, live chat, or email.

We deliver your vehicle

step 3

We deliver your vehicle

You’ll receive a call from the driver the day before his scheduled arrival and also a few hours before that. He’ll want to check that you’re available to receive your vehicle and that the delivery location is safe and legal.

If you won’t be available when the driver arrives, you can nominate someone to act on your behalf and receive your vehicle. You might choose a friend, neighbor, relative, or work colleague. Our only stipulation is that they’re over 18 years of age.

Upon arrival, inspect your vehicle carefully with the driver and compare it with the original Bill of Lading (BOL). Once you’ve ensured everything is in order, sign the Bill of Lading (BOL) to accept delivery of your vehicle and make the necessary payment if you’ve selected Cash on Delivery (COD) as your payment option.

how long do car shipping services take

How long do car shipping services take?

Several factors influence how long it takes to ship a car, including distance, route, weather or traffic conditions, and the schedule and policies of the various auto transport companies.

Shipping short distances within the same region may take a few days, while longer distances, such as cross-country transport, could take up to ten days.

While distance is the most obvious factor, various other elements can also affect the time required to ship your vehicle.

  • Pick-up and drop-off locations: Shipping from metropolitan areas is typically faster due to better infrastructure and higher demand. In contrast, rural areas might experience longer transit times because of limited access and fewer service providers.
  • Distance: Longer distances naturally require more time. Short distances typically take 1-2 days, while cross-country shipments may take 7-9 days.
  • Seasonal demand: During peak moving seasons (late spring to early fall), higher demand results in shorter transit times. Conversely, winter months might see longer wait times due to reduced demand and holiday breaks for drivers.
  • Weather conditions: Severe weather, such as snowstorms or heavy rain, can delay car transport companies. Since safety is the top priority, this could lead to slower driving speeds or temporary halts.
  • Road conditions and traffic: Urban areas may face delays from road construction, detours, and traffic congestion, while rural areas might have fewer alternative routes and slower responses to road issues.
  • Driver regulations: To ensure safety, regulations limit truck drivers' driving hours, which can extend transit times.
  • Vehicle type: Loading, handling, and finding suitable car moving companies may take longer for larger, heavier, or specialized vehicles.
  • Vehicle condition: Operable vehicles can be shipped more quickly than inoperable ones, which require special handling and preparation.
  • Transportation method: Open car transport is faster due to higher availability and the ability to ship multiple vehicles simultaneously. Enclosed auto transport offers greater protection but may take longer because of fewer available vehicle transport companies and more meticulous handling.
  • Service level: Expedited auto transport services prioritize quick deliveries but come at a higher cost. Terminal-to-terminal shipping may take longer due to additional pick-up and drop-off requirements.

how much do car shipping services cost back

How much do car moving services cost?

The cost of car shipping is influenced by several factors, including market demand, distance, the type of vehicle being transported, its value and condition, the time of year, fuel prices, pick-up and delivery locations, and any additional services required.

Understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions about your shipping needs.

  • Market demand: Car shipping rates fluctuate based on market demand, which varies cyclically (seasonally) or non-cyclically (due to mass relocations). Urban areas experience demand-driven price changes, while rural areas generally have higher prices due to lower demand.
  • Truck availability: Truck availability is closely tied to market demand. Fewer available auto transporters lead to higher demand and increased prices.
  • Distance: Although distance affects pricing, market demand often dictates rates. Short, heavily traveled routes may have higher prices, while longer routes might offer lower rates.
  • Vehicle dimensions: Bulkier and heavier vehicles incur higher transportation costs due to height and weight restrictions, optimizing truckload capacity.
  • Vehicle value: Transporting high-value vehicles typically costs more, especially when using enclosed car shipping for added protection.
  • Vehicle condition: Non-operational vehicles require specialized equipment and increased handling time, affecting the cost of your car hauling service.
  • Seasonality: Shipping during peak periods, such as summer and holidays, can result in higher costs, while off-peak times may offer savings.
  • Fuel prices: Fluctuations in fuel costs influence shipping prices, with higher fuel prices leading to increased overall costs.
  • Expedited/express transport: Priority pick-up and expedited delivery options cost more due to the higher service level and faster timelines.
  • Guaranteed pick-up date: Ensuring pick-up within a specified window incurs additional costs for a car shipping company.
  • Transport type: Open car transport is more common and cost-effective, while enclosed car shipping provides greater protection at a higher cost.
  • Pick-up and delivery locations: Certain locations may incur additional costs due to accessibility challenges for the car movers or extra fees.
  • Extra services: Additional services beyond standard shipping may come with extra charges.
  • Discounts: Qualifying for military car shipping or student auto transport, our car shipping discounts can help reduce shipping costs.
